This performance is very different from the Black Swan I am familiar with.  I find it very dramatic and impressive especially in the orchestration.

is this Odile’s variation? Why is it different from the usual variation you’d see in classic adaptations?

This is the Bourmeister version, as opposed to Petipa/Ivanov, and it was first performed in the Stanislavsky in 1956. Bourmeister’s choreography/use of the original score emphasizes the psychological complexity of the third act.

Very cunning yet sexy in many areas, her Odile is very different. 🙂 I also like the orchestration of this performance – never have I heard Tchaikovsky music played like that. May I ask, what performance is this and with which company?

This is her debut in Swan Lake in April 2011 with the Stanislavsky Ballet in Moscow (as a guest star).
