It is confirmed that the Crown Prince will be the Honorary President of Japanese side at the events commemorating the 400th anniversary of Japanese-Spanish relations next year,  which are to be held in the both countries.

この事業は、江戸時代初期の西暦1613年に、仙台藩主の伊達政宗が、スペインに公式使節団を派遣 してから来年で400年になるのを記念して行われるものです。両国では、来年6月から再来年7月にかけて、さまざまな交流事業が計画されていて、一連の事 業の日本側の名誉総裁を皇太子さまが務められることになりました。

The events will be held in order to commemorate the 400th anniversary next year of Date Masamune, the feudal lord of Sendai, currently the capital of Miyagi prefecture, sending an official mission to Spain in 1613, early in the Edo period.  Both countries plan various Exchange Program from June 2013 to July 2014 where the Crown Prince will act as the Honorary President of Japan for a series of events.

Crown Prince Felipe of Spain is to assume the position of Honorary President there.


They will hold the positions from June 1st, 2013 to the end of July, 2014.  It is under arrangement that both princes make a visit to the other’s country.
